Kohima, October 28 (MExN): Logistical difficulties, instances of harassment and misinformation encountered by ground workers during the first phase of Census 2027 were highlighted by Kohima Deputy Commissioner B Henok Buchem, NCS, during a field trainer training programme on October 28.

Addressing the Field Trainer Training for Census 2027 Phase-II at the DPDP Conference Hall, Kohima, Buchem recalled the challenges faced by enumerators during Phase-I, including instances of harassment in certain areas that required personal intervention by his office, the State DIPR reported.

He also pointed to misinformation and miscommunication campaigns by certain organisations, stating that the district administration remained prepared to respond to such narratives.

The DC emphasised the need to address ground-level challenges and ensure adequate support for field personnel during the upcoming phase. He urged field trainers to guide and motivate enumerators and supervisors, particularly in adapting to the fully digital census system.

Buchem noted that the digital format would require enhanced proficiency among field staff, while stressing that public cooperation and the provision of accurate demographic information were essential for a comprehensive and credible census.

He assured the trainees of the district administration’s continued support throughout the exercise, added the report.
