Kohima, September 21 (MExN): The District Administration, Kohima, has streamlined the process for obtaining permission to conduct programmes and events in and around Kohima Town.
In a notification issued by District Magistrate Kohima, B Henok Buchem, it was stated that the measure has been taken in view of the increasing number of applications received from various organisations and institutions seeking permission to conduct programmes and events.
The notification stated that prior permission/permit for such programmes will be issued only after submission of the required No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and documents, as applicable. The requirement is aimed at ensuring effective crowd and traffic management, safeguarding public safety, and minimising inconvenience and disturbance to the general public during the conduct of programmes.
The mandatory documents include an NOC from the Police and, particularly for programmes that may affect vehicular movement, traffic regulation or public roads, an NOC from the Traffic Police.
An NOC from the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) will also be required for programmes proposed to be conducted within the municipal area, wherever applicable.
Organisers are further required to obtain an NOC from the concerned Village Council, Khel Council or Colony Panchayat, depending on the location of the proposed programme.
In addition, permission or NOC from any other concerned department, authority, institution, landowner or stakeholder may be required depending on the nature, location and specific requirements of the programme.
