Kohima: The Kohima District Planning and Development Board meeting was held on February 15 at DC’s Conference hall, Kohima under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, W. Honje Konyak.
After the review of the last DPDB meeting, ADC Planning, Ketoho Luho appraised the members on their visit to Mokokchung DPDB as part of reaching out to other districts with the concept of ‘Village Vision Cell’. He said that he along with Assistant Director, Urban Development, Tarachu Fithu visited Mokokchung to attend the DPDB February meeting as it is the strongest and one of the most established DPDBs among the districts. He said that a power point presentation on the year-long activities of the Kohima DPDB was given by Tarachu Fithu after which he spoke on the concept of ‘Village Vision Cell’ which was positively received by the members. He further stated that such visitations to other DPDBs would lead to learning from each other for further progress and development.
A report on visitation to Kidima village on October 17, 2013 by the Village Visitation Team was presented where it was stated that the village has been adopted as a ‘Green Village’ and villagers are almost wholly engaged in vegetable farming and rice cultivation. The team appraised the house on the activities going on in the village and certain requirements that have to be looked into.
DIG, Fire and Emergency Service, Neilasa Sopfü gave a presentation on Village Vision Cell, Chiechama where he highlighted on the initiatives taken up by the VVC Chiechama, which is one of the most successful VVCs in the district. He stated that the VVC has embarked on providing drinking water, power supply to small scale industries, bamboo plantation and conservation of forest, integrated farming, 100% children enrollment in primary schools, vocational training, and sanitation and village beautification.
Issues regarding to vegetable vendors were also discussed. DFO, Kohima, Sridanappa IFS gave a briefing on forest fire awareness.
