Kohima DTF discusses lockdown enforcement

Kohima, May 14 (MExN): The Kohima District Task Force (DTF) has decided to strictly enforce the lockdown measures in the district by monitoring and imposing penalties on those who violate the guidelines. A decision to this effect was taken during the DTF meeting on May 14, a DIPR report stated.

As per the report, Deputy Commissioner and DTF Chairperson Gregory Thejawelie that a permit system has been put in place for those who need to step outside of their homes for ‘unavoidable cases.’

The main market areas like BOC, High School junction, Super market and Keziekie will be closed. However, wholesalers in BOC, Supermarket and High School Area will be permitted to open from 6:00 am to 12 noon in order to maintain the supply chain to the shops in the colonies/wards and the villages. The activities in these areas will be monitored by the Kohima Municipal Council.

The house also proposed that people crossing the town areas for agriculture and allied activities obtain certification from concerned village authorities for their movement.

On the issue of movement of labourers, the wards and colony authorities have been asked to ensure that the labourers do not move out from the State as they have been allowed to work for their daily wages. The meeting also requested the All Kohima Municipal Wards and Panchayats (AKMWP) to curtail non-essential movement in their respective colonies/wards.

Other matters including management of COVID positive dead bodies and home isolation for asymptomatic cases were also discussed during the meeting, the report stated.
