Kohima Educational Society announces essay writing contest

Kohima, September 24 (MExN): Keeping with its larger educational mandate and to encourage reading and writing within Naga society, the Kohima Educational Society (KES) is organising an essay writing contest on the theme ‘Challenges faced by a traditional society passaging through modernity.’ 

The winning and selected top essays will be published in book form as part of the report, the organisers informed in a press release. The contest is organised with the objectives for encouraging writing amongst all age groups and experiences the power of words and draw strength and accountability from them; encourage enthusiastic writers to document folklores and family history; and emerge as a transparent and neutral platform for sharing of ideas that build the human spirit.

The essay writing contest will be held in categories with following structures: 

There will be no entry fee. Hand written essays will be rejected. Participants are requested to submit typed essays via email to KESessaycontest@gmail.com

Entries must attach Full Name; Date of Birth; ID Proof for Address: Scanned Valid School ID/Aadhar Card/Driving License or Voter ID; and Contact Number.

A set of six judges, three for each category will evaluate the contest. The judges will be chosen from among prominent members of society in their respective fields. 

The results will be declared by the end of November along with the 3rd Edition of the Dr Gordon Graham Prize for Naga Literature, 2021. The essay contest winners will also get an opportunity to interact with senior Naga writers.
