Dimapur, September 25 (MExN): The Kohima Longjang Senso Telongjem (Union) has expressed shocked and anguished to learn of the inhuman treatment meted out to a 10 year old girl at Kohima by one N. Asangla of Forest Colony.
“We strongly condemn this act of cruelty and unacceptable action on a child which has no place in civilised society, and feels ashamed that such an act was committed by a member of our community. We sympathise with the victim and their family and share their pain and sorrow,” lamented the union in a press note appended by its president Ayunungba Jamir.
The Kohima Longjang Senso Telongjem has assured all concerned that it would inquire into the matter with all seriousness and take appropriate action on the perpetrator of this shameful act of cruelty as per the KLST constitutional provisions and our customary practices befitting the action. “It is our hope and belief that this unfortunate incident will not result in strife or misunderstanding between various Naga communities but make our people more aware of human rights and be sensitive to such issues in the future.”
