Kohima Lotha Hoho condemns election related violence

Kohima, February 5 (MExN): Kohima Lotha Hoho (KLH) today stated it was pained and concerned over the reported election related violence at Wokha Village.

“Our concern is that Wokha District Headquarter of the Lotha tribe has been named after Wokha Village and hence this village is expected to remain as the source of inspiration in democratic values and standard of discipline for all the villages of the district to emulate but sadly and regrettably, time and again, such unhealthy and mean incidents of violence has sprung from this village defiling all of us,” lamented a press statement from Kohima Lotha Hoho chairman, Nchumbemo Tungoe and general secretary, Thunglamo Ovung.

The Hoho appealed to the Village Council under the leadership of its Chairman to “be firm in controlling those few miscreants who are tarnishing the good name of the village and the name of the candidate for whom they may be in favour.” It must be made known to the miscreants that their violence will only bring the defeat of their candidate, it said. “We not only condemn their acts of unwarranted violence but also appeal the District Administration to arrest all those miscreants and book them under relevant sections of the law for peaceful co-existence that we all cherish,” the Hoho added.
