Kohima Murder: Porutso Khel refutes connection with accused

Kohima, November 6 (MExN): The Porutso Khel, Jakhama, has issued a clarification regarding the use of the title ‘Zao’ by the accused in the Kohima murder case.

In a press release, the Porutso Khel stated that while the accused was “under the umbrella of late Holto Zao’s family,” there are no official documents such as Scheduled Tribe or Indigenous Certificates to support his claim. “There is no other document to support his claim, except his AADHAR card where it could be obtained without the family consent,” the statement said.

The Khel further clarified that it was “totally ignorant that the accused was adopted in any form traditionally or by means of court procedure.” It also stated that “there is not a single contribution of the accused towards our khel,” and therefore, “we totally refute that he is a bonafide member of our khel and village.”

The Porutso Khel requested that the usage of the name “Samuel Zao” be discontinued in all forms of documentation.
