Kohima, September 17 (MExN): The annual sports week of Alder College Kohima was conducted from September 13 to 16 last.
Dr Rükhono Iralu, principal Alder College graced the inaugural function and stressed on the importance of healthy sportsmanship spirit among the students. The sports week took place in two venue- Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima and college campus.
The events of the annual sports week includes; track and field events, indoor and outdoor games. One of the main highlights was the annual Naga Wrestling Competition. This year’s edition of Naga wrestling event saw participation from Konyak, Lotha, Zeliang, Pochury, Angami and Chakhesang communities.
Savituo Metha emerged the champion title and Rokosezo Pier as runner-up.
Team Aquila emerged as overall champion while Team Draco was declared the most disciplined house of Annual Sports Week 2022. Team Hydra was adjudged as the best design of team flag.
During valedictory programme, Kholi Lohrü, Vice Principal, Alder College exhorted the students to continue to acquire new knowledge and work hard to succeed in life.
Alder College Students Union, general secretary, Khriesilhou Rio extended gratitude to the college authority for the success of the sports week. He also thanked Nagaland Wrestling Association for their encouragement and assistance towards Naga wrestling event.
