Kohima, June 18 (MExN): Kohima Police on Thursday apprehended three senior functionaries of NNC/FGN (NA), including its President, and seized arms, ammunition, cash and a vehicle during an operation in the State capital.
According to a press release issued by PRO Kohima Police, the operation was launched following information received on June 18 regarding the movement of cadres reportedly travelling from Dimapur towards Kohima.
A Special Operations Team (SOT) was subsequently activated to trace and apprehend the individuals.
The three were apprehended from the New Secretariat area under the jurisdiction of North Police Station. The police identified them as Senlo Khing (56), President, NNC/FGN (NA); Kitoho H Zhimomi (38), Kilo Kilonser, NNC/FGN (NA); and Tovito Kiba (29), Finance Kilonser, NNC/FGN (NA).
Police stated that the items seized during the operation included two .32 calibre country-made pistols with two magazines and eleven live rounds, one .22 calibre country-made pistol with one magazine and five live rounds, a Mahindra Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number AS-26-3373, cash amounting to ₹48,500, four mobile phones, and other documents.
A case has been registered at North Police Station in connection with the seizure of the arms and other items. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive, network and possible involvement of other associates, the police said.
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety, the Kohima Police urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share information on unlawful activities.
