Kohima shooting stirs more condemnation

Dimapur, December 30 (MExN): Denouncements continue to pour into the Media following the December 29 shooting in Kohima that left three civilians, including a 9-year-old boy, injured when rival underground cadres engaged in confrontation. The Khuzama Village Council and the All Nagaland Taxi Association also joined in denouncing the incident and have demanded that the government take swift action.
The Khuzama Village Council issued a note today expressing deep shock and anger at the firing incident. One of its members Vimhazol was shot in the leg. The Khuzama Village Council said in a note that Vimhazol is a law-abiding citizen who is presently serving as village council member as well as a deacon in the village’s Baptist church.
The council also condemned the injury inflicted on a 9 years old boy Mulotso, taxi driver Raju Chetri and Vimhazol who all were shot when the cadres opened fire reportedly at a rival cadre. The council wishes them speedy recovery. The law-enforcing agencies are also asked to investigate the incident and bring the culprits to book in accordance with the law of the land.
The All Nagaland Taxi Association, Kohima unit, also condemns the shooting during which one of its members along with two civilians was injured and two taxis damaged. The association has demanded that ‘factional clashes should be avoided with the public circle.’ The association expresses sympathy for the injured and their families and wishes them speedy recovery.
