DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 13 (MexN): A meeting held recently at Chenwetnyu on December 7, 2011 involving Konyak civil society and Konyak Region NSCN Khaplang has reportedly decided that the Konyak community will stand by the resolution passed during the 1950s and which has been reaffirmed consecutively that the Konyaks are one people standing for one cause along with the Naga people for Naga sovereignty. “Therefore the Konyaks will be one politically, religiously and socially”, stated a press note issued by Maj Retd. Yaoli Konyak, Chairman Konyak Region NSCN/GPRN Khaplang.

The press note also pointed out that in politics, the Konyak people will be under the Konyak Region NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang). In the religious sphere the entire Konyak population will be under the umbrella of Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum. In the social sphere, the Konyak people will be under the supervision of the Konyak Union. “No forces will divide the Konyaks because Konyaks are one in all affairs”, stated the press note.
The Office of the Chairman Konyak Region NSCN/GPRN Khaplang informed about what it stated was the “outcome” of a meeting held with Konyak citizen. The meeting held at Chenwetnyu on December 7, 2011 was attended by the Konyak Union, Konyak Students’ Union, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Kong and Konyak Region NSCN Khaplang.
According to the press note, the meeting “thoroughly deliberated” the prevailing situation and came to the conclusion that the Naga political movement cannot be solved unless the solution was based on sovereignty. “The Konyak tribe being the major community will never waver by the blowing wind of the present days. It will deal with Naga political issue with the matured approach”, stated the press note.
