Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): The Kaishan Rungyond Naga (KRN) has expressed concern over the reported killing of four soldiers by members of their own ranks, terming the incident “tragic and unexplained”.
In a statement, the organisation said the incident raises serious questions about trust, discipline and unity within the force, noting that the circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear.
The KRN said the soldiers had committed themselves to a cause beyond personal interest and placed their trust in the leadership and the system they served. “To learn that their lives were taken under unclear or unjustified circumstances raises serious moral, ethical and institutional concerns,” it stated.
The organisation has sought a transparent and thorough explanation of the events leading to the incident, raising questions on the circumstances that led to the internal violence, adherence to protocols and safeguards, and accountability for the decisions taken.
It also asked what measures are being implemented to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
The KRN emphasised that clarity is owed not only to the families of the deceased but also to serving personnel, warning that ambiguity could erode morale and discipline within the force.
Urging a fair and impartial investigation, the organisation called for the findings to be made public, stressing that justice, transparency and accountability are essential to uphold the integrity of the institution.
The KRN said it awaits a response with urgency, given the seriousness of the matter.
