Kronu for boosting rural economy

Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board Neiba Kronu today said that he has already submitted a proposal to the Government of India on five components relating to improvement of rural economy in the state. This novel project categorized five components: preservation of forest wealth, proper utilization of water resources, large scale cultivation of agri and allied activities, medicinal plants, use of new technology for rearing fishes and creation of market avenues. “This can only uplift the economy of our people,” he subscribed.

The proposal is for Pfutsero areas of Phek district as the pilot project, he said. Inaugurating the Government Primary School at  Lewoza, Leshemi Village this afternoon, Kronu said that the proposal, if  considered by the central government, can serve as a model for other regions to adopt. Under the project, villagers can also emphasize on agriculture link roads and horticulture activities  in  zones. In the meantime, he urged the villagers to bring out a master-plan basing on viability of crops in their respective areas. 

Also viewing the importance of mass participation, he  stressed on the need to form Self Help Groups (SHG) to undertake various types of income generating ventures. “We have to begin now. It is not late to start,” he said. Kronu also called upon the people to maintain peace and unity and at the same time urged upon them to cooperate with the government to avail various developmental benefits. He said that things are improving under the DAN government under  Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, with  developmental activities  taking place across the state.

It may be recalled that the inauguration of Government Primary School at Lewoza, Leshemi village has been received well by the villagers. Pfucukha Lasushe, Senokha Losou and DIS Pfutsero Hutsoyi also spoke  at  the occasion.
