Noklak, June 5 (MExN): The Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC), along with all its frontal organizations, has decided to abstain from the upcoming urban local body (ULB) election for Noklak Town Council. The ULB polls are scheduled across Nagaland on June 26.
The decision regarding the same was taken during a joint consultative meeting of KTC with all its frontal organizations viz. KSU, KMH, Noklak Town 11 Ward Chairmen & Secretaries, GBs, NDGBA, KBCA & prominent leaders of the tribe under Noklak district on Wednesday.
Upholding the spirit of unanimous ENPO’s Chenmoho Resolution of February 23, 2024, and its subsequent reaffirmation on May 14, 2024, in Dimapur, the meeting resolved for abstention from the ULB elections in Noklak against the failure to settle the protracted Frontier Nagaland Territory (Frontier Nagaland Territory) demand for Eastern Nagaland, KTC stated.
Any violation of the decision would be addressed in accordance with the KTC's previous resolution, the council added in a press release.
