KTCCI impose ban on plastic in Kiphire town

Kiphire, January 7 (MExN): The Kiphire Town Chamber of Commerce & Industries (KTCCI) has resolved to strictly ban the use or sale of plastic or polythene bags within Kiphire town from January 1, 2019 as a part of its initiative on ‘safe environment and Kiphire-polythene free town’.

It was resolved during the KTCCI general session held at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire along with officials and members KCCI and all the business establishments on December 9, 2018. 

KTCCI, General Secretary, Tsalichum S Sangtam in a press release stated that the KTCCI shall impose a stringent action against the defaulter. “Whereas, any packages used in the place of plastics or polythene by the business establishments should be only through the authorization from KTCCI for strict implementation,” it stated. 

T. Litingse Sangtam, Chairman KTCCI deliberated the importance of business community in playing vital role for the economic growth of the district, state and the whole country in general. He added that amplifying within the business community and having a cordial relation with the stakeholders and citizens of Kiphire with social contribution shall foster the business and the district towards over all development. 

He acknowledge the District Administration, the Business establishments and all the civil societies within and outside Kiphire and the individuals, for coordinating the common relief cause, when Kiphire was facing acute shortage of daily needs during the monsoon road cut-offs 2018. 

It was also stated that the cleanliness drive carried out every last Saturday of the month within the KTCCI as initiated in 2017-18 shall be carried out for 2019-20, and the cleanliness drive for January 2019 shall be scheduled on January 19 from 6:00 am to 8:00 am, a week ahead of Republic Day celebration.
