KU calls consultative meet on ancestral land boundary with Ahoms

Mon, August 21 (MExN): The Konyak Union (KU) has convened a consultative meeting to deliberate on issues related to the ancestral land boundary between the Konyaks and the Ahoms.

According to KU, the meeting will be held on August 25 at 11 AM at the Konyak Union Headquarters Office, Mon, with participation from KU Tizit, Wakching, Naginimora and Mon Units, along with concerned villages.

The Union has requested the presence of the President and General Secretary, Anghs, Chairmen and Head Gaon Buras of the respective units and villages, as well as senior citizens of the Konyak community who are custodians of ancestral land, members of the Advisory Board and the Union Executive Council.

Stating that the issue pertains to ancestral territorial rights, KU in meeting circular issued by its President K Yamao Konyak and General Secretary Wango Konyak, urged all concerned to attend the meeting “without fail.”

The consultative exercise assumes significance amid recurring border tensions between Assam and Nagaland, marked by claims and counterclaims over traditional boundaries.
