
Mon, August 22 (MExN): The Konyak Union (KU) on Friday said it would ensure full cooperation and safeguard the welfare of all Non-Konyak residents in Mon district, while stressing on unity and collective progress. The assurance came during a courtesy and coordination meeting convened with representatives of various Non-Konyak communities at the KU Hall in Mon Town on August 22.
The meeting was attended by Tenyimia Union Mon, Lotha Hoho Mon, Sangtam Community Mon, Muslim Community Mon, Sumi Union Mon, Yimkhiung Union Mon, Mon District Gorkha Welfare Society, Hindu Community Mon, and Phom Union Mon.
KU President K Yamao Konyak, in his address, welcomed the participants for their “positive response and active participation to the call of Konyak Union.” Acknowledging their presence in the district “despite the prevailing challenges and difficulties,” he urged members to “freely share any grievances or hardships faced by their respective communities so that the Union may extend necessary support and assistance.”
He also appealed to all communities to “actively partake in all activities and festive celebrations organized by the Konyak Union (KU), Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), Konyak Students’ Union (KSU), and the District Administration, so as to foster better coordination, mutual understanding, and harmonious relations within the district and among the Nagas at large.”
The KU urged those communities unable to attend to inform its office through their respective unions in Mon district.
The Union reaffirmed its “steadfast commitment” to promote peace, harmony, and cooperation in the district. It sought the continued support of all Non-Konyak communities and the Naga populace at large.
The Non-Konyak communities present also shared their concerns and extended congratulations to the newly inducted KU team.
