Demonstration of SRI Method at a farmer’s field during a training programme held on Low cost Water Harvesting conducted by KVK, Dimapur.
Dimapur, July 26, (MExN): A one day training programme on Low cost Water Harvesting –Jalkund and SRI (System of Rice Intensification) was conducted by KVK, Dimapur at Dhansiripar Village on July 25, 2011 under NICRA Project.
A press note issued by Anamika Sharma, Programme Coordinator stated that Asino Kehie and Dr.Sunayana Baruah (SRF’s, NICRA project) highlighted the importance of water harvesting and its scope with special reference to agriculture and livestock management. This was followed by a detailed explanation on site selection, different size, excavation and management of ‘Jalkunds’ by James Kikon (SMS, Soil Science). Ch. Roben Singh (SMS Agronomy) stressed on the importance of SRI method of rice cultivation which was followed by a demonstration on SRI in the farmer’s field. Participants from farmer’s club and SHG attended the training programme.
