Dimapur, December 9 (MExN): The Kiphire Village Students’ Union has condemned at the strongest term the incident occurred on December 6, few kilometers away from Meluri towards Kiphire road in which a Maruti car was hit by a sliding log which cause the vehicle to fall 37 feet below from the main road.
The union in a press note issued by its president SERICHUM. S stated that the incident happened due to the total carelessness and lack of civic sense. “The four occupants miraculously escaped from the jaw of death alone the road NH. 202 when the laborers were sliding log with no proper indication or any laborer deploy on the work site which resulted the accident when the log hit the vehicle. It was again a humiliation on the part of the occupants when the log owner took the incident lightly followed with bitter words instead of showing hospitality and make request for the badly damage vehicle to repair (sic),” the union in the note stated. It also mentioned that the report filed by officer in-charge of Meluri which was published in the local dallies is totally baseless. The union therefore has urged the concern to bring amicable settlement at the earliest .
