Mokokchung, July 15 (DIPR): Local Area Development Programme (LADP) for Mokokchung district for the year 2011-12 has been finalized at the monthly meeting of Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) on July 15. The LADP, considered as an important tool for overall socio-economic development of the district, covering all the 10 (Ten) Assembly constituencies was finalized without much discussions in the house.
The monthly DPDB meeting held at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall was chaired by its Chairman Nuklotoshi, MLA and Chairman, NIDC & Nagaland Hotel Ltd. and it was attended among others by Home Minister, Imkong L. Imchen, L. Temjen, MLA and Advisor, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, Toshipokba, C. Apok and Nungsangyapang, all MLAs.
The meeting earlier took up threadbare discussions on creation of three new Rural Development Blocks in the district. During discussions, the meeting felt that new RD block at Chuchuyimlang, Tuli and Merangmen is necessary as numbers of villages under these areas are not properly covered by the existing Block. The D.C, Lithrongla G. Chishi, who is also Vice Chairman of the DPDB, drew the attention of the DPDB members on this issue through a power point presentation. She said that creation of three new blocks is necessary in the larger interest of the public in terms of accessibility and delivering goods to the people.
Taking part in the discussions, Home Minister, Imkong L. Imchen asked the DPDB to give justification for creation in accordance with the guidelines of the department of Rural Development. He also inquired from concerned department on erratic power and water supply in Mokokchung town and reported illegal control of market in certain commodities by some agencies in Mokokchung town.
The meeting also gave its recommendation to the government for upgradation of some schools and for financial assistance to a number of associations and societies who are engaged in economic and social upliftment in the district.
Winding up the meeting the Deputy Commissioner announced that number of Administrative Officers posted in Mokokchung district will be proceeding on transfer shortly to their new posting in different parts of the State. On behalf of the District, Lithrongla expressed deep appreciation to those officers for their valuable contribution and efficient services to the people of the district.
