‘Land encroachment in GPK a serious issue’

Kohima, September 18 (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary of Technical Education N. Thomas Lotha, accompanied by Secretary to the Department of Higher and Technical Education (H&TE), CM Tsanglao and Director of Technical Education, Er Arjun Singh visited Government Polytechnic Kohima (GPK).  

In his speech, Parliamentary Secretary N. Thomas Lotha stated that land encroachment in the institute is a serious issue and that the department will be able to contribute to the society only if the local leaders support the institute. He added that in order to fulfill the vision of Act East of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there is a need of quality teaching and quality environment. In this context, he stated that Nagaland has the potential to become India’s gateway to capture the South East Asian market and compete with China.  

CM Tsanglao also lamented the encroachment of land and urged all the members present to rise above family and communal ties and support the department against land encroachment. In the context of the amendment of service rules, he reminded the congregation that all employees are bound by government service rules. CM Tsanglao also encouraged the faculty to be like good books for the students and others around to read.
