Landslide hits NH-61

Kohima, August 18 (DIPR): With the onset of monsoon season, stories of landslide across the State been reported often. Another affected area is the NH-61 between Botsa and Chiechama (34 Kms from Kohima) where a stretch of 500 feet has been affected by landslides.
Section Assistant of PWD, Chatuo speaking to the DIPR reporter said that the landslide occurred on 1st July 2011 and due to continues downpour, NH-61 has been badly affected with continuous mudslides.
Vehicles coming from Kohima and vice-versa are allowed to cross at regular intervals one convoy at a time. He also said that 2 JCBs and 2 dozers are pressed into service working round the clock from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. so that commuters do not suffer. He also said that C.E. (National Highway) PWD and other officers from the State PWD department also visit the site from time to time and are trying every possible ways for smooth flow of traffic and convenience of commuters.
