Two buildings and two vehicles were swept away by a huge landslide in the outskirts of Aizawl in the wee hours of Tuesday. However, there is no report of casualty.

According to police, the landslide occurred at the Zemabawk area around 3:30 am. Sources said that a 3-storeyed building, a semi-concrete building, a bus and a car have been swept away by the calamity.

The area suffered landslides in the past too.

Since the situation in the area was bad, residents had reportedly evacuated the buildings a few days ago. Reports further said that people residing in the vicinity of the area have also been made to shift elsewhere.

Zemabawk falls under Aizawl East-I constituency where Chief Minister Zoramthanga was elected.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister visited the area along with Mizoram Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister Lalchamliana on Tuesday evening and met the affected people. Zoramthanga said all necessary help will be extended.
