Latakhrü Whemi age group of Viswema village constructs park 

Kohima, April 18 (MExN): In an effort to give back to the society, Latakhrü Whemi, an age group of Viswema village under Kohima district has constructed Latakhrü Park at Krayo.

Located at tri-junction connecting Viswema, Kidima and Khuzama, the park was formally inaugurated by Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC) Mission Director, Rev Atha Neikha on April 17. 

A press release from Vichosel Rhütso, Secretary, Latakhrü Whemi, R Khel Viswema informed that the land was donated by Medongonü Kin, wife of late Puzon Kin and their children while the park was constructed by Latakhrü Whemi.

In his address, Rev Neikha lauded the initiatives of Latakhrü Whemi in constructing the park which would provide resting shed to the travelers on the route and also the farmers. Latakhrü group has shown exemplary deed by placing society's benefit above their personal interest, he said. “This good gesture will reflect not only Latakhrü’s image but also R Khel and Viswema village as a whole,” Rev Neikha said.

Maintaining that “our generation is our own responsibility,” he said “we have to bring the youngsters in a way we want our society to move ahead.” He said, as parents we need to educate youngsters on civic sense, good hygienic behaviours, respecting elders and also to be agents of change. He hoped that travelers and farmers would make proper utilization of the park and also maintain cleanliness.

Member of Latakhrü Whemi, Vitsorel Lcho said the group was formed in 1984 with 12 each male and female member and they have lived as a family. He said the park was constructed with the vision to serve the public.

Latakhrü secretary, Vichosel Rhütso chaired the programme, which was also attended by Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, Zale Neikha while Vithel Pusa said the vote of thanks. Special numbers were presented by Seshe & Sanei and Latakhrü Whemi members.
