Kohima, June 9 (MExN): Launching of Phase Alpha-II and commissioning of Project Alpha-1 will take place on June 11 at 10:00 AM onwards in the college premises of Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
Minister for higher education and urban development Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Dr. Vituo Belho will chair the function while short speech will be delivered by Krurovi Peseyie. Theja Therieh, advisory board member Alumni Association will pronounce a word of appeal.
It can be mentioned here that, responding to the call to uplift their alma mater, the Kohima Science College Alumni Association initiated a mission mode name Project Alpha. In 2010, Project Alpha 1 was formally launched by Zhiebu Kire, IPS, DGP Nagaland during which college LAN of 100Mbps and High –speed broadband service were operationalised. In the final phase, and to mark the successful completion of this project, 10 PCs have been installed in the library reading room to empower students in ICT.
In the meeting among the executive of the association and the college fraternity in May 2011, the need of an additional girl’s hostel emerged as the most urgent proposition. In this vein, the members deceived to appeal to stakeholders of the institution to collectively bear the cost of construction of a 50-bedded Girls Hostel. This is Project Alpha-II.
