
Kohima, May 23 (MExN): LaunchPad, a career guidance and employment skills development programme since its inception on 2020 has been torchbearers in offering career guidance explicitly to students pursuing class 12, impacting all 44 Government Higher Secondary Schools (GHSS) across Nagaland.
It is an initiative of the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS), Government of Nagaland, in partnership with YouthNet, supported by the Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland.
LaunchPad Programme has 3394 students registered till date of which 1377 students participated in a survey where an overwhelming 81% of the respondents said they require higher education, vocational training and career fair. LaunchPad with its three-pronged approach sets to fulfil the needs of the students in this regard.
LaunchPad was launched for the academic year of 2022-23 in Dimapur and Niuland districts on May 23 with 73 students from GHSS, Purana Bazar and 32 students from GHSS, Niuland.
At the opening event held at GHSS Purana Bazar, Akumla Chuba, Director of Youth Resources and Sports highlighted the importance of LaunchPad in tackling the high unemployment rate in the state.
Tsepila Zhimomi, Manager- Training & Talent Management, YouthNet, chaired the event while Pipi Gloria Chishi, Principal, GHSS Purana Bazar delivered the welcoming speech.
In Niuland, the programme was graced by Khriekethoii Kense, YRO of Youth Resources and Sports. She mentioned the impact LaunchPad had the previous year with a total number of 3394 registering under LaunchPad, with 2646 students successfully starting the course.
Pursungit Pongen, Project Coordinator of LaunchPad chaired the programme. In the welcome address, Isiteulie, Principal, GHSS Niuland mentioned the importance and the need for similar projects for class 9 and 10 students as well.
