The Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA) held a formal welcome and handover ceremony at Yikhum Baptist Church on September 21 for its new Executive Secretary, Dr. Renbi Rangthang, and outgoing Executive Secretary, Rev. Khonbemo P. Kikon. The programme was conducted under the theme, “Benka Elhilo Khochak” (Joshua 24:15).
In his address, Dr. Renbi Rangthang expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity and the trust placed in him by the LBCA community. He said he had accepted the position after prayer and spiritual discernment, viewing it as a divine calling. Emphasizing his commitment to fostering unity among the churches, Dr. Rangthang appealed for the prayers, support, and cooperation of all members in carrying out his ministry.
Outgoing Executive Secretary Rev. Khonbemo P. Kikon reflected on his tenure since August 4, 2022. He highlighted God’s guidance throughout his term and shared his efforts to bring reconciliation among divided churches. Rev. Kikon reiterated that his service was motivated by the spirit of unity rather than personal gain, and he provided insights into the journey and financial aspects of LBCA during his tenure.
Delivering the sermon, Dr. Amos Humtsoe spoke on God’s love for the Lotha community, urging churches to embrace forgiveness and unity. He cautioned that continued division could result in missed opportunities for the youth and future generations. Dr. Humtsoe called for humility, mutual respect, and collective effort in walking under God’s guidance.
The programme was chaired by Rev. Rentsamo Kithan. The prayer for the ordination of the new LBCA Executive Secretary was led by Rev. Ezanbemo Odyuo, and a special song was presented by the Yikhum Church Choir.
