LONGLENG, SEPTEMBER 12 (MExN): The Longleng District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) conducted a legal awareness programme at Alayung Village on September 11 under NALSA’s Effective Implementation of Poverty Scheme 2015.
Delivering the keynote address, Longleng DLSA Secretary, Kumdilong Kessen (NJS), highlighted the role of legal awareness in poverty alleviation. He reminded participants that the court system provides the framework for justice, with different courts having distinct jurisdictions and powers.
Retainer Lawyer Panglang Y. Phom sensitised villagers about their rights and entitlements under various poverty alleviation schemes, including how to access benefits through eligibility, application, and grievance redressal mechanisms. Deputy LADC, P. Monyei Phom, spoke on victim compensation and Lok Adalat, sharing success stories and informing participants about the upcoming National Lok Adalat on September 13.
The programme saw active participation, particularly from women and marginalised groups, who engaged in interactive sessions. Informational materials were distributed by PLVs Yingli Keikung, Manau, and Nyingching. Earlier, Panel Lawyer Bongnyei chaired the programme and the invocation was delivered by the women pastor of Alayung Baptist Church. Initiated by PLV Yingli Keikung, the programme concluded with 34 participants in attendance.
