LAHI delegations pose for a photo during the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, China.
Kohima, October 3 (MExN): Metseruyi Tetseo, a Vocational Trainer and Senior Instructor with Lend A Hand India (LAHI) in Kohima, recently visited the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 competition held from September 22–27 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, China.
Tetseo travelled as part of a delegation of LAHI colleagues to witness the international skills competition and gain exposure to global practices in vocational education and skill development. The 48th edition of the WorldSkills Competition brought together 1,385 competitors from 68 countries and regions across 64 skill categories, highlighting excellence in technical education and skilled professions.
During the visit, Tetseo observed various skill areas, including CNC Milling, Carpentry, Plumbing and Heating, Water Technology, Chemical Laboratory Technology, and Robotics. The exposure provided insights into modern equipment, precision work, automation, digital technologies, and the impact of Industry 4.0 on vocational training.
The experience underscored the importance of strengthening hands-on learning with a focus on precision, safety, problem-solving, and quality standards among students, while exploring how international methodologies can be adapted to vocational education in Nagaland despite resource limitations.
In addition to the technical program, the delegates undertook cultural and historical tours across Shanghai, visiting landmarks such as The Bund, Yu Garden, and historical and modern commercial districts to experience China's blend of tradition and rapid urban development.
The initiative is expected to support future efforts in promoting practical, skill-based learning among young people in Nagaland, focusing on effective teaching methods and helping students build professional confidence.
