Let peace prevail among my fellow Nagas!

Nagaland, today, is in a state of fear, terror, bloodshed and violence. It breaks our hearts to witness our own people resorting to violence rather than finding a solution through peaceful means. Any hasty decision or action based on emotions bears dreadful consequences. Truth must prevail. A leader should be guided by wisdom from Above and have concern for the betterment of the society.

We are fighting with our own fellow being. The tragic death of our two brothers found no mention in any Indian newspaper. Does any other person bear the consequences of our actions? The tragedy is being borne by the Naga people within our beloved Nagaland.

What is the root cause of the whole traumas? The tribal Hohos opposing the 33% reservations that it infringes upon the article 371(A)? But the truth is...are the majority of the people even aware what exactly is written in Article 371(A)? Reason and the search for truth must guide our step and not follow the crowd blindly.

The whole situation projected a picture of personal ego and pride between the tribal bodies and the GON. If the Government of Nagaland is really the representatives of Nagaland, they would have kept aside their personal ego and with humility would have listened to the voice of majority of the population. What would they have gained by conducting the ULB elections after hurting the sentiments of the people, whom they represent?

What would the mob have gained by ransacking or destroying the private residence at 4th Mile, Dimapur? It just took the life of our two innocent brothers and injuring the lives of many unarmed brothers! Their lives were precious, they had every right to live their life to the fullest according to God’s given potential. May their souls rest in peace!   What about the IRB personnel who fired the unarmed public? Let's introspect what would we have done if we were one of the IRBs and was trapped in the particular situation? Were they on the line of duty?

Yes! the burning of Historic Secretariat Complex, KMC office and State Information Commission Office! Do we even care to ponder who will lose by vandalising and burning those buildings? Is it public or private property? We are harming ourselves through our own actions.

Please! let's stop playing the blame game! The damage is already done. It is time to rebuild our broken society rather than using the situation in gaining popularity for oneself by adding fuel to the fire. Real leaders have real concern for the betterment of the society.

Let us all be reminded once again that we Nagas are known for honesty. “Nagaland for Christ” shouldn't be simply on paper. No matter how powerful we are today, we all are MORTAL HUMANS. We all have one life to live. We breathe, we feel the same! What is gone cannot be brought back but we have a chance to learn from our mistakes, rebuild ourselves, and emerge from the ashes more united and stronger. May God bless our Nagaland!
