It was last year that Tokheho Yepthomi during his brief charge as minister for School Education brought out a list of teachers attached to NPF legislators. With one particular legislator having as much as NINE teachers serving him. Though no further report on the despicable disclosure was made available to the public by the department. The media, student bodies and ANSTA should pursue this issue.
No teacher or lecturer should be attached to the CMO, ministers, advisors or chairman's. The stance of Mr Kashiho Minister of S&WC, G&M in regards to teachers being attached to legislators under Kipheri District should be appreciated by the public and student community in particular. It should be followed by his colleagues in the PDA government. For some of the then NPF legislators with teachers attached to them are once again in the NNDP/BJP/NPP/JDU, PDA alliance.
Irrespective of whether such attachments are legal or not, the legislators of both the treasury and opposition benches should cease to disturb the Education Department and it's institutions. A letter supposedly written by the office of the Dy CM asking for a lecturer in Nagaland University be attached to him has been circulating on social media. If the letter is authentic, the said request is best be withdrawn in the interest of the student community and the health of educational institutions. Let those who got into service for the purpose of educating young citizens serve their specified task. If not, they should take voluntary retirement, give up their jobs and give opportunity to thousands of WELL EDUCATED Nagas ready to work for the government, willing to teach and serve the people.
There are also instances where teachers and other lower and middle grade government employees are registered as members of political parties. It wouldn't be surprising to find some of them even holding office in political parties. In fact some government servants are even reported and suspected to be active members of Naga political groups. The vigilance department should initiated investigation and the government of Nagaland take steps to confront such illegal and criminal acts of government employees.
