Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification (Rom 14:19)

The Nagas are a family of many tribes, united by a shared heritage, customs, and cultures. Above all, we are a people who profess faith in Jesus Christ. The vision of “Nagaland for Christ” is not merely a slogan—it is a calling to reflect the character of Christ in our lives. Our greatest strength is not found in our numbers, our tribes, our organisations, or our political differences, but in the love of Christ. Jesus said, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35). If love does not become the defining mark of our lives, we will continue to be divided despite sharing the same history, faith, and aspirations. History teaches us that no nation or empire, however powerful, has endured forever. The Babylon empire, the Roman Empire, the Greek Empire, and the Soviet Union all passed away. Military strength, political power, or human wisdom alone cannot sustain a people. A nation that loses love, mutual respect, justice, and righteousness will eventually decline.

Napoleon Bonaparte is often quoted as saying: “Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I founded empires by force. But Jesus Christ founded His empire upon love, and to this day millions would die for Him.”

Christ's kingdom continues to endure because it is founded on truth, sacrifice, forgiveness, and love—not on fear or coercion. The Naga people have travelled a long and difficult political journey. While we may hold different political views and belong to different tribes or organisations, we must never allow these differences to destroy our brotherhood. Political convictions should never replace Christian values or our common identity as one people. Therefore, let us speak with humility, work with sincerity, forgive one another, and seek reconciliation wherever there is misunderstanding. Let every Naga become an ambassador of peace, justice, and unity.

If “Nagaland for Christ” is to have real meaning, it must first be seen in the way we love one another, respect one another, and build one another up. Let our lives become a testimony that Christ reigns among His people. May the Naga people raise high the banner of Christ through love, unity, righteousness, and peace, so that future generations may inherit not a divided people, but a united nation founded on faith, hope, and love.

“Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.” (Romans 14:19)
