DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 3 (MExN): Noting the varied changes taking place in the society where vulnerable young minds could get diverted to the wrong side of changes, additional secretary Kikheto Y. Sema IAS has called upon the students and young people to change their mindset and attitude even as they remain focused on their goal.
He was addressing the 57th annual session-cum-fresher’s meet of the Kohima Sumi Students’ Union (KSSU) as the chief guest on Saturday at Sumi Baptist Church Kohima. Exhorting the students on the values of life and humility, Kikheto urged them to stoop down every time they climb the ladder of success. He also emphasized on the dignity of labour and asked the students to learn the many good lessons of the forefathers. Showing respect to elders is one value of the forefathers which the present young people are not practising, he added. He told the students to think of what they could contribute towards the society and not what they could get from the society. Acknowledging the benefits of keeping in touch with new technologies, Kikheto, however, said as students it was not necessary that everyone should have expensive mobile phones, lap tops etc as those things most often distract them from studies.
Earlier, president of Sumi Officer’s Forum Kohima, Er Kughaho Sumi exhorted the students stressing on the importance of human relationships. Representative students of St. Joseph’s College Jakhama and Anatoli Rochill presented special numbers. KSSU president Bokavi Achumi delivered the welcome address. SABCK Pastor, Rev Hotokhu Zhimo and SBCK associate pastor Dr. Hokheto Chophy also took part in the programme attended by well wishers and hundreds of students from various colleges in Kohima.
