Letter to Editor

Dear Sir,

This is in regard with the news article dated 04/01/18, where it was mentioned about requisition of private vehicles for election purposes by the district administration and the election department. Now my questions are, did the government bought the vehicles to its citizens? And if so are they willing to compensate for any damages and accidents? I suppose the answers are definitely “NO”.

As per the news article one officer from the election department mentioned that it is mandatory to requisite private vehicles for election purposes, also the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur mentioned that Government vehicles are not enough. Logically there are more than enough of Government vehicles in the State, for instead calculate the numbers of vehicle attached to our dearly appointed MLAs and also the HODs of various departments.

To be honest most of the private vehicle owners have purchased through hard earned money after years of toiling, and also many have to purchase because it is needed and they go for loans since they cannot afford to pay at one go. Time to ponder and react.
