That Sir, on 29th March 2016, I approached the SBI Phek for opening of my sister's new account with all requisite documents. However, the Accountant and the Customer Assistant of the same bank abruptly refused to accept my application form for want of Aadhaar Card as mandatory even though I had produced Voter's Identity Card/ Driving License as proof of my identity.
The same officers were adamant that I produce my Aadhaar Card along with the Voter's ID Card which as per the criteria of opening an account is an option rather than mandatory, even the Supreme Court had often notified that possession of Aadhaar Card is not compulsorily mandatory so, why are the bank officials of the Phek SBI insisting on this Aadhaar Card only?
As per specification laid down in pages of Account opening form producing any of the following is purely an option namely: 1. Passport, 2. Voter's Identity Card, 3. Driving License, 4. Aadhaar Card, 5. MNREGA Card, 6. Pan Card, 7. or any other officially valid documents.
Unfortunately my application has been kept pending for the whole three months despite several appeals. Hence, I hereby appeal to your high authority for justice and investigate the matter at the earliest and take timely action upon the erring officials of the SBI, Phek.
