LFA advocacy held at Baghty

Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): A one day advocacy campaign on HIV/AIDS was held at Baghty under Bhandari Constituency on November 18, 2011. It was organised by CYSA and sponsored by LFA Nagaland. The meeting was attended by more than 200 delegates representing village councils, VDBs, women organisation, churches, youth and students, NGOs, teachers and other government officials.
The chairman of the programme was Hito Sema, Border Magistrate Merapani. Introduction to the programme and LFA activities was highlighted by Robin Ezung, president CYSA. ZujamoYanthan, STI counsellor Wokha presented the scenario of HIV/AIDS in Wokha district. David Tsopoe, programme co-ordinator RYMF Baghty presented the basic information of HIV and STI.
Abeni Lotha, president WNP+ spoke on stigma and discrimination faced by the PLHAs in Wokha district. She appealed to the delegates to understand the needs of the PLHAs and accept them as they are in order to minimize the spread of HIV/AIDS in the district. A short interactive session was led by the president CYSA where some of the delegates thanked the LFA Nagaland for the programme and demanded more such programme in future and assured co-operation and support to prevent HIV/AIDS and STI infection in the district.
