Dimapur, June 8 (MExN): Livingstone Foundation International (LFI) organized a bicycle rally on environmental awareness under the theme of ‘Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature’ on June 8. The bicycle rally which included around 36 cyclists from Grades-VI to XII students of LFI, started from the School Main Gate at Thahekhu and went up to City Tower Junction and Nyamo Lotha Road. It culminated at Dhobinala Junction.

The bicycle rally was flagged off by Temsunochet Changkija, NPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Dimapur, informed an update from LFI information desk.

Speaking on the occasion, Changkija stated that without proper discipline one cannot achieve anything great in life. He also stressed on the importance of ‘Only One Earth’. He called upon the gathering of students and mentors to make a collaborative effort in ensuring a sustainable and harmonious relationship with nature.

LFI Chairman, Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema expressed his wish that more people including school and college students start using bicycles to commute as it would contribute in lowering the harmful effects of global warming due to vehicular pollution and also improving their overall health. However, he was wary of the traffic situation in India, especially in Nagaland, where majority of the people do not adhere to traffic rules and regulations thus endangering the lives of the public. Therefore, he was of the opinion that the public need to be disciplined while driving on the streets and follow the traffic rules strictly.
