Life insurance MNCs under NESO’s scanner

Dimapur, August 23 (MExN): Strongly of the view that the objectives of life-insurance Multi-National Companies (MNCs) entering into NE, particularly Nagaland state, are only to make “fast gains”, the North East Students’ Organization (NESO) has warned  several major insurance MNCs in the NE against manipulating the ignorance and “innocence” of the general public. The major insurance companies that found NESO’s black spot include ICICI Prudential, TATA, Baja Allianz and Birla Sun.

“These MNCs have entered this region with two business tactics – firstly by taking up business directly and secondly, through licensed agents”, stated an NESO release  appended by its Chairman Dr Samujjal Bhattacharjya and General Secretary NSCN Lotha.

The NESO took strong cognizance of reports that licensed agents of these MNCs are attempting to woo customers to take up policies by “making false promises of cash returns in their unit-linked policies”. “In other words these agents have turn out to be only commission-centered or rather commission-hungry-agents thereby cheating customers to invest cash assuring them of fast gains even to the extend of promising that the customers will get double their investments through the insurance schemes within three years” the NESO asserted. In the light of these, the NESO asked all concerned citizens to be cautious before taking up any insurance schemes with MNCs, including LIC unless one is sure of the schemes thoroughly and that the credibility of the licensed agents are authenticated. The NESO warned all MNCs and their agents of such like ICICI Prudential, TATA AIG, Baja Allianz, HDFC Standard, Birla Sun Individual Life, SBI Horizon, AMP Sanmar, Maz New York, Reliance Life and LIC Bima Plus to desist from “their unscrupulous manipulation of the ignorance and innocence of the general public”.
