Dimapur, October 17 (MExN): Lions International Peace Poster Contest jointly sponsored by the Lions club of Dimapur and Lions Club of Blue Vanda was won by Shweta Sharma, Poulami Ghosh, Calvin A. Raja and Puja Mundhra of Vision School of Fine Arts, Pranab Vidyapith Hr Sec School, Holy Cross Hr Sec School and St. Mary’s Hr Sec School respectively.
The winners were selected from best 52 contestants from 19 schools of Dimapur and were awarded a cash prize of Rs.2500, Rs.2000, Rs.1500 and Rs.1000 respectively along with winner & school participation certificates at Deepawali Mela held at Lions Club. Parliamentary Secretary, Geology & Mining, Irrigation & Flood Control Y. Patton, Chief Guest deepawali Mela and MLA Lion Azhato Zhimmomi, Advisor Sericulture & Co-operation and Temjen Ao, Chairman, NIRMSC awarded the winners.
Wining posters were among more than 375,000 entries submitted worldwide in the 24th annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Lions clubs international is sponsoring the contest to emphasize the importance of World peace to young people everywhere. The posters were selected by Dr. Minakshi Kalita (Ankan Bivakar & Ankan Ratna) and Dhrubajyoti Kalita from Guwahati for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme, “Children Know Peace.”
All the four winner posters will advance to face stiff competition through the district, multiple district and international rounds of competition if any one of them is to be declared the international grand prize winner. One grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners will be selected. The grand prize includes a cash award of US$ 5,000 plus a trip for the winner and two family members to the awards ceremony at Lions Day with the United Nations. The 23 merit award winners will each receive a certificate and a cash award of US$ 500. International grand prize and merit award winners may be viewed at www.lionsclubs.org.
