Awareness programme cum Animal Health Camp conducted at Tening Town on June 6.
Tening, June 8 (MExN): Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Tening, T Lemlila Sangtam advised livestock rearers to seek prevention and treatment of ailing animals from animal health experts.
She was speaking during an awareness programme cum Animal Health Camp conducted at Tening Town organized by KVK Peren, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie, Peren, in collaboration with ICAR NRC on Mithun, Medziphema and College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, CAU, Jalukie Peren on June 6 at Town Council Hall, Tening Town.
According to a press release from KVK Peren, Sangtam asked the villagers to spread the knowledge they gain to their neighbours.
While appreciating KVK Peren, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie, Peren, ICAR NRC on Mithun Medziphema and Veterinary College for organizing a needful programme, she also encouraged the participants to avail opportunities given by various departments and stakeholders for the welfare of their livestock.
Dr A Palanisammi, Professor, Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics told the farmers to acquire knowledge and benefit from the programme through active participation.
Dr L Babita Devi, CTO (Animal Science) chaired the programme. In the keynote address she briefed the importance of awareness among the farmers about animal health.
During the technical session, Dr Narendra VN, ICAR-NRC on Mithun Medziphema, Dr Keneisezo Kuotsu and Dr Tukheswar Chutia of CVSc, CAU, Jalukie and Dr L Babita Devi of KVK Peren delivered lecture on Calf care and Management, Important diseases of Cattle and their management, Reproductive disease in pig and their management and Important diseases of Poultry and their management. As a part of the programme, Farmer Scientist interaction was also done, followed by Animal Health camp.
During the Animal health camp, castration in pig and Goat were performed. Vitamins, Mineral mixtures, Iron supplements, calcium Supplements, deworming drugs, antibiotics and other veterinary medicines were distributed to the farmers covering a total of 1216 livestock’s including poultry (156 pigs, 930 poultry, 3 buffalo, 28 cows, 14 Mithuns, 11 Goats, 2 Cats, 7 Rabbits and 65 dogs),
Altogether 166 participants-150 farmers and 16 officials attended the programme.
Earlier during the inaugural programme, Dr KL Meena, PS & Head, KVK Peren, gave the welcome address.
The programme was conducted by experts from KVK Peren, ICAR NRC Mithun and CVSc, CAU, Jalukie along with students under the supervision of Dr H Kalita, HoRC, ICAR Nagaland Centre; Dr Girish Patil, Director, ICAR NRC on Mithun and Dr I Shakuntala, Dean Veterinary College, Jalukie, Nagaland. The programme is funded under TSP & CAU Imphal.
