ATTD congratulates Rev Dr Wati Aier
Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): The Ao Temolungtsur Telongjem Dimapur (ATTD) has expressed joy over the prestigious peace award conferred on Rev Dr Wati Aier, Principal of Oriental Theological Seminary (OTS). The ATTD in a press note issued by its President Mrs. Awala Jamir has congratulated Rev Dr Wati Aier, hailing from Mopungchuket village, who was presented with the 2011 Baptist World Alliance (BWA) Denton and Janice Lotz Human Rights Award on July 9 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Stating that the peace award was as a result of the tireless effort and personal sacrifice of Rev Dr Wati Aier, the ATTD hoped and prayed that God will further give wisdom and direction to Rev Dr Wati Aier to fulfill the aspiration of the Nagas for peace and reconciliation in our land. The ATTD also acknowledged the effort put in by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) and its Journey of Common Hope to bring Naga groups under a common platform. The ATTD further thanked the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) for its foresight in giving the prestigious award to Rev Dr Wati Aier and stated that Naga people will be further encouraged to work for peace and reconciliation in their homeland.
Pfutsero town public condemns
Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): The Pfutsero Town Public in the general meeting held on July 9, 2011 had strongly condemned the stealing of vehicle of the working NPF president by miscreants. A press note meanwhile stated that the public of Pfutsero town has expressed deep appreciation to the Police department for their timely actions in capturing the two culprits. Further, the people have appealed the concerned authorities to act immediately to catch those persons still absconding in the case, as soon as possible.
Kohima Baptist Pastor’s Fellowship informs
Kohima, July 10 (MExN): The Kohima Baptist Pastor’s Fellowship informed the citizen of Kohima that Mhalevituo Angami of Nerhema Village will be caretaker/chowkidar of Common Graveyard (Cemetery) below BSF camp, Chedema. His residence is near BSF camp. The contact number is 9856231825. The Fellowship requested all churches, NGOs, government and the citizens of Kohima to give cooperation to serve the people. It also requested the family members of those whose grave there to clean the grave twice in a year.
Dept of Economics & Statistics in-service training
Kohima, July 10 (MExN): To build up the human resource capacity for improvement of statistical activities in the state, the Department of Economics & Statistics is conducting an in-service training course on “Basis Official Statistics” at the Directorate Conference Hall, Kohima from July 12 to 16 for the employee of the department. Dr. L. Daniel Longchar, IAS, secretary, Department of Economic & Statistics will inaugurate the training programme. The inaugural function will take place on July 12 at 10:30 am.
Bhanu Jayanti celebrations on July 13
Kohima, July 10 (MExN): The 197th Bhanu Jayanti celebration is being organized by Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima along with its sister NGOs on July 13 at GPS Hall, Kohima at 3:00 pm. H.B. Rai will be the chief guest and Dr. Shanta Gurung will be the guest of honour on the occasion. The organization requested all members and students to attend the programme and make it a grand success.
Committee to scrutinize parliamentary laws
Kohima, July 10 (MExN): The meeting of the Committee to Scrutinize Parliamentary Laws for application to Nagaland on separation of judiciary from executive and the Nagaland Registration of Marriage Bill, 2007 which was earlier fixed on July 8 has been further postponed to July 13 at 11:00 am in the Committee Room of Assembly Secretariat. All the concerned committee members and departmental representatives have been requested to take note of it and attend the said meeting.

Facelift for Dimapur’s ancient Kachari ruins
Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): Nagaland has neglected one of the most significant and most ancient landmarks existing in the state today, the ruins of the ancient Kachari kingdom in Dimapur. Amid neglect and constraints for funds, the Kachari youth organizations in Dimapur on July 9 cleaned the ancient landmark in Kachari Rajbari.
Dimasa Youth Organization and Mech Kachari Youth Organization of Nagaland undertook the cleaning drive. The organizations said in a note today that the historic site of the Kachari have turned into a virtual jungle which has hurt the sentiments of the community.”Every year we clean the site however due to constraints in resources we the Kachari cannot maintain the site. We therefore request the Archeological Survey of India, the custodian to please see that the Kachari Rajbari monuments site of Dimapur to maintain properly at par with other historical monuments in the country,” a the two organizations appealed in a letter here today.
About 400 people took part in the work. The youth organizations expresses gratitude all who participated and contributed to the event in myriad ways.
