ANCSU 15th Biennial General Conference

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN):
All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) will be organising its 15th Biennial General Conference under the theme “Education and Employability” at St. Joseph’s college, Jakhama from August 26 to 29. The inaugural function will be grace by the Minister for Urban Development and Higher Education, Dr. Shürhozelie as the Chief Guest. The Chief Secretary, Govt. of Nagaland, Lalthara, IAS has consented to be the Valedictory Guest. The Resource Person for the Academic session-1 on the topic “Education and Employability” will be  oshi Aier, Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner, Govt. of Nagaland. Theja Therieh, Ex-President ANCSU will be the Resource Person for the Academic Session -2 on the topic “Unity is Strength”. This was informed in a press release issued by ANCSU General Secretary Metsiviko Meyase.

CTCSU sanitation drive

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN):
The Chozuba Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (CTCSU) conducted a sanitation drive on August 6 where around 700 students along with teachers represent from all over the schools under its jurisdiction. CTCSU President Lhuyisa Phesao in a press release said that the programme started with briefing on importance and significance of sanitation by Temsunaro Aier, Addl. Deputy Commissioner Chozuba. She exhorted the student community to maintain proper hygiene and set a good example to the habitant of Sub-Division.  

DSSU informs

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN): 
The Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) has informed in a press note that it has appointed its board of advisors for the tenure 2011-12. The members consist of H Toniho Achumi – former president of DSSU, Mughavi Chishi – former president of DSSU, Ahoi Yepthomi – former president of DSSU, Phulato Zhimomi – former member of DSSU, Hotoshe Chophy – former general secretary of Dimapur Sumi Council. The union has also appointed Phushika Aowmi – former president of NSF, Khevishe Achumi – former president of SKK, Toshika Chishi – former president of DSSU as members of drafting committee.

LSU for full investigation

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN):
Lakhuti Students’ Union (LSU) conveyed utter abhorrence on brutal and senseless killing of Habib Ali from Assam on August 14 between Sunglup and Lakhuti. The Union in a press note stated that it is essential that a full investigation be carried out into this case at the earliest since the atmosphere of fear, violence and hatred stirred up as well against the two communities facing direct intimidation including receiving threads. Therefore, the Union appeals to the law enforcing agency to settle the matter at the earliest in order to restore peace, stability and security to the public.

Mongmong festival at Kisama

Kohima, August 22 (MExN):
Sangtam Union Kohima, has organized Mongmong festival on September 3 at Naga Heritage village Kisama. Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Toshi Aier and Financial Commissioner will grace the occasion as the chief guest while the other programme included folk song competition representing six different areas of Sangtam and presentation of Folk Dance by Khiamnungan Cultural Club Kohima. The festival is being hosted by Theose Thongtsar, son of  late Yopkyu Thongtsar, Ex. Minister in association with the Sangtam Union Kohima. An invitation through press release issued by Seopi Sangtam President SUK has requested all Sangtam in-laws and well wishers to join at the scheduled celebration.

NUVC condemns

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN):
The Village Council of Naga United Village Council has stated condemnation at the shooting by unknown miscreants on one Chunnu Gupta, on August 18, 2011 at around 11:00 pm at his residence. A press note issued by Kuthoku Shiroh, chairman, Deo Krome, secretary, Mase Vero, GB and Kevisilie, GB stated that the life attempt was made without stating any reason. The Village authority also appeals to the law enforcing authority and different underground factions to control anti-social elements, so that such untoward incidents are avoided in future.  

PER, EPIC at Phek

Kohima, August 22 (MExN):
With a view to maximize photo coverage for preparation of Photo Electoral Roll (PER) and Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) for Phek district, the Designated Photography Location was set up at the office of District Education Office, Phek. All left our registered electors of 16th Pfutsero, 17- Chizami, 18- Chozuba, 19- Phek and 20- Meluri Constituencies who could not get themselves photographed during the Ist and 2nd phase photography operation have been informed to approach the DPL during office hours from August 23 to 30 for free photography. Failure to avail this special drive will entail the residual electors to submit their passport size photos along with the prescribed form at their own costs.

Pochury unions demand correction

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN): 
In regard to the news item “tribe - wise information in govt. employment” which appeared on August 17, 2011Government employees (2007) of Pochury excluding from school Education and Police, it is informed that as per the true findings through the collection of data should be read as 834 and not 8341 that appeared in the local dailies. A press note issued by President, Pochury students’ Union and Union Assembly Speaker, Pochury Students’ Union stated that the percentage is as it is i.e. 1.09%. The Union requests the Department to immediately correct the false Data or error and to avoid such carelessness or misleading data in the near future as it causes dismay over the masses.

SPEEPD Green Award

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN):
Green Award, the Society for Protection of Ecology & Environment, Peren district (SPEEPD) which comprises of all DP&DB members presented the 2nd “Green Award” on August 15 to four outstanding government officers in the district to acknowledge their active participation and initiation in environmental issues and development of the district. The award was presented by the chief guest and minister Shurhozelie. The recipients of the awards are Iherie Ndang, SP Peren, Albert E Ngullie, DPO (land resources), Heineilung, ACF (forest) and Beli Deka, JE (PWD, R&B).This was informed in a press release issued by SPEEPD, general secretary, Zubemo Lotha.

Orientation & training prog on IEDSS

Kohima, August 22 (MExN):
The orientation/awareness & training programme for educational administrators/principals/headmasters of all GHSSs and GHSs (both government & private) in Kohima district for implementation of Inclusive Education of Disabled Students at the Secondary Stage (IEDSS) scheme will be conducted at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima on August 24 at 10:00 AM. In this programme, subject experts will deliberate on the topics like; awareness and types of disability, centrally sponsored scheme of IEDSS and survey and identification. “Since this scheme must be provided to these less fortunate students in the schools all informed should compulsorily attend the awareness/training programme without fail, a release received here said today.
