ANCSU informs on annual membership fees
Dimapur, February 8 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has informed all the concerned colleges affiliated to the ANCSU, not to release the annual membership fees of 2011 to any of the executive or secretary and also request the business establishment, well wishers and sponsorship not to extend any help to any of the officials without prior information and written recommendation from the president and general secretary. The Union has informed that those executive found indulging in those activities without the knowledge of the office will be liable to take action as per the constitution of the Union. DC Kohima convenes meeting on Census
Kohima, February 8 (DIPR): To create awareness on the ongoing awareness census 2011, Deputy Commissioner and Principal Census Officer, Kohima, Beiu Angami has convened a meeting on February 10 at 11 a.m. In this regard all the Head GBs have been directed to attend the meeting with one prominent village/ward/colony representative and community monitor without fail. Wherever village councils have been formed and functioning, the concern chairman has also been directed to attend the meeting.
LASU session held
Kohima, February 8 (MExN): The Longmatra Area Students’ Union (LASU) held its 15th general session from January 7-9 last at Tsongphong village under the theme “Making it happen.” During the session, the Union elected new team of executive council led by T. Jumushen Sangtam as president, T. Rhangtsothe- vice president, Tsaosela- general secretary, Moatemsu Sangtam- assistant secretary, T. Tethsolen – assembly speaker, T. Rollen- deputy speaker and L. Tethsolen- assembly secretary. Meanwhile, the Union while taking serious note of the irregularities of government employees posted under Longmatra area, has resolved to go for a surprise checking in all the governmental departments. The Union also urged all the government servants to be sincere in their duties, failing which the Union shall take its own course of action against those erring employees.
MTCC Wokha Town wishes students
Dimapur, February 8 (MExN): The MTCC Wokha Town has conveyed best wishes to the youth members of MTCC Wokha Town who would be appearing in various examinations Viz, HSLC, HSSLC, graduation and those appearing for competitive examination. The Union through a press release encouraged its members to give their best and to come out with flying colours.
TVC notifies
Kohima, February 8 (MExN): Stating that the people Tethuyo village has been preserving wild life since many years, the Tethuyo Village Council has once again reminded that hunting and fishing have been banned within Tethuyo village jurisdiction. The village council in its general meeting held on January 4 last has called for strict compliance of the ban.
GPRN/NSCN bans gutkhas and alcohol
Dimapur, February 8 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN Rengma Region has also issued an order banning the sale of all kinds of gutkhas and alcohol within its jurisdiction. It also directed all suppliers and sellers to stop dealing with the same with immediate effect as stern action will be taken upon the defaulters. Further, the GPRN/NSCN Rengma Region conducted a surprise checking on February 4, 2011 at Tseminyu Sub-Division under Kohima district following which a note has been issued stating that “stern action will be taken upon the irked officials” as many officials were absent in their duty without valid reason. The GPRN/NSCN Rengma Region, chairman, Vikuto Semy in the note added that if any of the officials are found absent in his/her duties during the next surprise checking stern actions will be taken.
Census mass awareness meeting on February 12
Dimapur, February 8 (MExN): The Director of Census, Nagaland has entrusted the Naga Council and the Naga Women Hoho to act as Community Monitors for District of Dimapur in the Census 2011 Operations. Naga Council President Savi Liegise in a press release stated that this is a responsibility being taken up on behalf of all civil organizations/all NGOs and Tribal Hohos, etc of Dimapur District in order to ensure smooth, honest and factual operation of this important decadal National programme of Census Operations.
In order to reach out to a greater mass of the population, the Govt of Nagaland through Director of Census Nagaland has directed for a mass awareness meeting to be held at Dimapur to further highlight various important aspects of the Census Operations. Hence, a mass awareness meeting is convened on February 12 at 11:00 am at Town Hall, Dimapur so that maximum members of the society participate in the Census Operations. All Presidents & Secretaries/Convenors/Chairmen of Village Councils, Colony Councils, Tribal Hohos, NGOs, The Church, Hd GBs, GBs of all villages/Colonies, all Councilors of Naga Council, leaders of various non-Naga Communities, all concerned, etc, are hereby requested to attend the said Meeting without fail.
YouthNet education fund

In order to promote and encourage education for underprivileged children, YouthNet created a small fund in partnership with The Forgotten International, USA. Under this fund, meritorious and needy students in two schools are sponsored. Clothes and shoes were also distributed to students of these school in 2010 and also to needy children in around five villages. YouthNet in partnership with the Paper Tigers (USA) also sponsors the “reading in school” programme wherein reading books are contributed to the schools. Partner organization like The Heritage, Kohima and Synergy Group Enterprise, Kohima also contribute to the education fund.
