DSSU meeting on April 26

Dimapur, April 24 (MExN):
The Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) has convened a meeting on April 26, 2011 at 1:00 pm, at its Union Banker, Notun Basti. The meeting will deliberate for the upcoming 36th DSSU general conference. Therefore, the Union has requested to all the conference committees members, advisors and the executive council to attend the meeting positively. This was informed in a press note issued by Hutoshe Kits, organizing secretary, DSSU.

New council constituted for Midland Dimapur

Dimapur, April 24 (MExN):
Midland Council search committee comprising of convenor R.K. Ezung and acting chairman of the colony, Y. Khehuto Zhimomi and other members has unanimously constituted a new team of Midland council on April 18 with R. Sanen as chairman, Kethoypo Pucho as secretary, Ezung as treasurer and T. Nakhro as finance secretary. Therefore, it is informed to all concerned residents of Midland colony to approach the newly inducted council officials for any matter related to the council and colony as well, informed a press note.

STH 25th annual session concludes

Dimapur, April 24 (MExN):
The Sumi Totimi Hoho, Nagaland held its 25th annual session at Pughoboto Town on April 14 and 15, 2011.  A press release received here informed that the session was graced by MLA and Advisor Sericulture & Co-operation, Azheto Zhimomi, who appreciated and encouraged the Sumi women of their responsibilities in the Naga society. The theme for the session “Women’s role in today’s world” was exposed by Zhekheli Zhimomi, Advocate.  The cultural session was graced by Lovitoli H. Achumi, HOD Education Mt. Olive College, Kohima. As many as eight villages of Pughoboto area took part in the cultural programme. The 25th session witnessed a grand cultural performance inclusive of plays, folk songs and dances. Apart from the enactment of roles played by the womenfolk in the past, the practice of traditional dying of cotton into different colours with local flora and weaving textures and designs were also showcased.

Polytechnic Institute inauguration at Chetheba today

Kohima, April 24 (MExN):
Minister for Urban Development and Higher & Technical Education,  Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu will lay the foundation stone of Government Polytechnic Institute at Chetheba on April 25 at 10:00 am. The minister will also inaugurate the newly constructed building of Government High School on the same day. The programme for laying of foundation stone of polytechnic institute will be chaired by Mudongoyi Chuzho, EAC Chetheba. The main function will be held at Chetheba Local Ground, which will be chaired by Mikha Lomi, deputy commissioner, Phek. Welcome address will be delivered by ex-MLA Nuzota Swuro. Legislators from Phek district will speak on the occasion. Short speech will be delivered by Khevito, director school education, F.P Solo, commissioner and secretary higher & technical education, Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Sovenyi and NPF vice president Pusazo Luruo. The programme will also witness cultural display by Runguzu and Thipuzu village. Songs will be presented by Chakhesang Cultural Research Institute, Women Society Chetheba, Vekuta Shijoh, Chokri Baptist School Chetheba, Government High School Chetheba and St. Andrew’s School, Thenyizu.
 
DPE meet held

Dimapur, April 24 (MExN):
The Dimapur Podinakup Ekhung (DPE) had convened its 1st meeting cum selection of office bearers on April 23, 2011 at Lotha Hoho Ki. The team was led by chairman-Raben Tsopoe, Secretary Mhathung Lapon, Treasurer A.Y Ovung, drafting committee Renben Jami (Convenor), Chopathung, Rhonthungo and Ringo, finance secretary Ntsemo Ovung and R.C Ovung, Dr. Wothungo Tungoe, and Ponathung Mozhui.
