Longleng, October 6 (MExN): The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting of Longleng was held on October 6 under the chairmanship of MLA B. Bangtick Phom at the DPDB Hall. The meeting reviewed a proposal for establishment of a blood storage unit and blood bank in the district. Following deliberation, the proposal was forwarded to the higher authority for consideration and approval.
The board also discussed electrification and installation of a new 100 KVA distribution transformer at the new district hospital building. The chairman entrusted the Medical Superintendent to coordinate with the concerned department for further action.
A proposal for creation of additional posts in the Police Department was also discussed and agreed to be forwarded to the higher authority. The board decided to organise a departmental tournament from October 29 to 31.
Deputy Commissioner W. Manpai Phom informed members that the Central Post Disaster Needs Assessment team would visit Longleng on October 7. He urged departments to collect data on damaged properties and complete the assessment.
He also requested the PWD (R&B), Agriculture and Allied departments and Medical Department to prepare presentations for the Governor’s visit to Longleng on October 8. He further informed that the Electoral Roll Observer would visit the district on October 8 to interact with EROs, AEROs, supervisors and BLOs.
The Department of Urban Development made a PowerPoint presentation on sanitation and implementation of solid waste management in Longleng. The DC also informed the board about the Paralympic Games scheduled for next month, in which the district will participate. The District Sports Council is preparing for training, which is expected to begin by the end of the month.
Sr. SP Longleng Yanger Jamir presented the activities of the Police Department through a PowerPoint presentation. The chairman entrusted the Forest Department with making the departmental presentation at the next DPDB meeting. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the chairman.
