Longleng, February 8 (MExN): The Longleng District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on February 7 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Longleng, W Manpai Phom, NCS, at the DPDB Hall, Longleng.
Welcoming the members, the chairman informed that the Frontier Nagaland Territory Authority (FNTA) has concluded an agreement with the Government of India and the Nagaland government on February 5, spearheaded by the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO).
Stating that details of the agreement are yet to be made public, the deputy commissioner said officials are gearing up for its implementation. He urged officers posted in the territory to be prepared for assignments and implementation of the agreement, asserting that “without proper execution, all efforts will go in vain.”
Heads of Departments (HoDs) and Officers-in-Charge were reminded to work diligently as an interim body is expected to be formed within a year. Emphasising that the agreement aims to benefit the eastern people of Nagaland, the chairman called upon officials to ensure its successful implementation.
After reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the chairman informed that the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare would be visiting the district later this month. He directed all departments, particularly the agriculture and allied departments, to be well prepared for discussions and to present their departmental activities through PowerPoint presentations.
During the meeting, the Principal of Bautung Government Higher Secondary School and the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital, Longleng, presented their reports. They highlighted departmental activities and the status of ongoing construction works at Bautung Government Higher Secondary School and District Hospital, Longleng.
The Department of Horticulture also presented details of its projects and activities implemented in the district. The chairman entrusted the Department of Agriculture to present its activities at the next DPDB meeting.
