Longleng, October 2 (MExN): The Longleng Town Council concluded the weeklong ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM)’ with the felicitation of Sanitation Workers at the Longleng DC Office premises on October 2.
A mass social was also carried out from 6 to 8:00 am in all the wards under the urban local body’s jurisdiction to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, according to a press release from the LTC office.
The weeklong AKAM was kick started on September 29 by Additional Deputy Commissioner and LTC Administrator D Robin with a workshop programme on ‘Awareness on Waste Segregation’ under the theme ‘Kachra Alag Karo Amrit Divas’ for all the Wards. The thematic events was followed by a felicitation programme for 6 ‘waste entrepreneurs’ and 7 Sanitation Workers and Waste to Art Exhibition.
Speaking during the concluding event on October 1, Extra Assistant Commissioner (Hq) and Nodal Officer (AKAM) Roukuosetuo Tetso thanked all the participants including the ward leaders led by Longleng Town Ward Union President L Chuba Phom for their proactive response and coordination enabling various activities to be carried out successfully across all wards, the release stated.
