Mokokchung, May 9 (MExN): The Longsa Village Council (LVC) and Longsa Village Education Committee (LVEC) under Mokokchung district today asked the Education Department under the Government of Nagaland why it is not releasing the remaining money sanctioned for the construction of the upgraded Government Middle School building in the village.
The LVC chairman R Lanu disclosed that the Education Department under the Government of Nagaland directed fifteen different villages and towns under Mokokchung district to construct new buildings within six months for upgrading the Primary Schools in the villages to Middle School level.
The Village Council Chairman disclosed that the work order was given by the government through Government ‘Letter No DMA/SSA/Grant-3/2010-11, Dated. Mkg the 5th April 2011. Work Order allotted for construction of GMS Imnatsüngda Longsa Rs. 1728319’. Imnatsungda Longsa is the name of the school.
The Village Council chairman disclosed that as per the directive, altogether 194 Longsa villagers volunteered for constructing the school building on record time. He also disclosed that the first installment of the sanctioned money, which is 75 percent of the total sanctioned amount, has been received by the villagers.
However, the Longsa villagers are yet to receive the remaining 25 percent of the sanctioned money. The Council chairman lamented that due to the non-release of the remaining 25 percent of the sanctioned money, the village council and also the upgraded school is facing a lot of problem. The village has been waiting for the remaining 25 percent of the sanctioned money since from October 2011, the Village council chairman stated in a note received here today.
In this regard, the LVC chairman stated that the Village Education Committee has approached the concerned authority on four occasions (25th May 2011, 2nd July 2011, 7th October, 2011 and 1st May 2012); however, the concerned authorities could not give any clear-cut response to the queries posed by the villagers.
In this regard, the Longsa Village Council appealed the concerned department to clarify why the remaining 25 percent of the sanctioned amount has not being released while the construction of the upgraded school has already been completed long time back. The Longsa Village Council has asked the concerned department to release the remaining amount at the earliest for the smooth functioning of the school.
