Dimapur, February 5 (MExN): The Lotha Mhonka Okho (LMO) today stated that it endorses the statement by Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton’s statement at the recent 51st Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) General Conference in Merapani.

In a press release, LMO stated that the organisation, on September 2, 2017, had “exposed the unfair practices and the manipulation by the NPSC at the interview stage at the NCS, NPS & Allied services examination 2015.”

“Meritorious and deserving candidates from the Lotha community were denied of their position,” it alleged, adding that the organisation, then exposed the commission (NPSC) “manipulated” the interview marks of the aforesaid exams.

The LMO further claimed that while out of the six candidates who scored 400 marks, there was one from its community, and everyone secured Class-1 position (EAC), except the concerned individual.

It further maintained that out of the nine candidates who scored between 390-399 marks in the mains examination, there were three from its community.

Interestingly everyone secured Class-1 position (2 EAC & 4 Dy. SP) except the three, it added, implying certain discrepancies, though the LMO did not spell out any in the release.

In this connection, the LMO justifying its endorsement on the ground of “bitter experience of injustice meted out to the Lotha community,” stated that it was a welcome statement when the Deputy CM told the students at the LSU General Conference not to be disheartened by the past experience.

“He also encouraged the students to work more hard and approach him if they feel any injustice is being meted out to any of the meritorious and deserving candidates from the community, as in the past,” the LMO said in the release issued by its President, Merithung Odyuo.

He also urged the students to be more courageous and face the examinations with more confidence as he assured that justice will be done to all the deserving candidates, it added.

In this regard, LMO appreciated the Deputy CM for encouraging the students’ community by “boosting their confidence and they will be more determined to work hard, leaving the past bitter experiences, in achieving their goals.”
